Dear Dave, Val and the rest of the "Crew"
I am writing this letter as a thank you for helping us to build the first home that was't previously occupied by someone else.
In December of 2001, we were looking for a home that would fit our needs as a middle-aged couple that had special needs. It became quite apparent to my wife and me that the type of house that we were looking for wasn't in this vicinity or if it was, the price was outrageous.
We began to look at new construction and found out that it was about as exciting as looking for replacement windows. Every builder that we talked to informed us that they had done everything that we had been looking for, and they could do it for the lowest cost. The problem was that when we asked them how much it was going to cost to change something that wasn't in one of their designs, it seemed like they were talking to Bill Gates.
We were driving around on a Sunday afternoon and just happened upon a development by Gill Construction. When the salesperson found out what we were looking for and it wasn’t at that location, she quickly sent us to see Kelly Spalsbury at their River Glen development. Kelly was very forthright and honest in answering questions that we were throwing at him in rapid fire succession. We liked the lot location, met our prospective neighbors and decided that we wanted to have Gill Construction build our "Dream Home".
We met with Dave Gill for about 4 hours during the first meeting. He was picking our brains as to what type of people we were, so as to find out our wants and needs. The following meetings were quite easy, since he came back to us with designs that needed "tweaking" instead of major surgery.
From seeing the lot the first time on 12/5/01, going through the design process to final signing on 1/15/02 (including the holidays) was not painful at all.
From groundbreaking to the presentation of the keys to our new home, the staff was helpful and understanding. If Dave or Jack thought that the home could be improved as the construction proceeded, they would give us the idea and let us decide. If a person were thinking of building with you, you can use this letter as you see fit.
